Career history

  1. Camera Systems Engineer → Senior Camera Systems Engineer

    AppleAug 2021 — Jan 20264 yrs 5 mos

Four and a half years on camera position sensing and the AF/OIS subsystems that shipped in multiple iPhone Pro generations.

    • Systems-level analysis and modelling of camera sensing subsystems in MATLAB, characterising end-to-end signal chains — magnetic sensor, AFE, ADC, controller, actuator — and defining architecture and requirements for multi-parameter calibration shipped across iPhone 15/16/17 Pro Telephoto modules.
    • Wrote subsystem specifications for Hall and TMR magnetic position sensors covering linearity, noise/PSD, cross-axis and thermal drift, with multi-domain electromagnetic simulation to surface design risk early and validate margin against manufacturing variation.
    • Established statistical test and calibration frameworks (Cpk, outlier detection) and designed the lab experiments behind them — 3D Helmholtz coils, laser metrology — automating the measurement workflows in MATLAB.
    • Led hypothesis-driven failure investigations into thermal drift, demagnetisation and metrology repeatability, resolving yield-impacting issues with supplier and factory teams.
  2. Optical Metrology Engineer

    OptoAlignment Inc.Jun 2020 — Jul 20211 yr 1 mo

Metrology software for aspheric and freeform optics, from hardware calibration through motion design.

    • Built MATLAB applications for point-cloud and image-sensor processing, delivering real-time metrology feedback on aspheric and freeform optics.
    • Modelled metrology-system stages end to end, from hardware calibration through to motion design.
  3. M.S. Electrical Engineering — Photonics

UC San DiegoSep 2018 — Dec 20191 yr 3 mos

    • M.S. Electrical Engineering, Photonics.
  4. Engineering Internships

    NASA · Intel · ICFO

Three internships before the full-time work:

    • NASA — correlated electromagnetic levitation actuator test and characterisation.
    • Intel — using ML to characterise data-server payloads for silicon development.
    • ICFO — optical setups for atomic filters and laser locking.
  5. B.S. Electrical Engineering, Minor in Physics

UC San DiegoSep 2014 — Jun 20183 yrs 9 mos

    • B.S. Electrical Engineering, Minor in Physics.
